HERD OF PIGS!
One day
Jesus and His disciples sailed across the lake to the region of
the Gerasenes. As Jesus got out of the boat 
a man who had evil spirits controlling
him, came to meet Him. This man lived in the graveyard. He would
often cry out at night and during the day and cut himself with
stones. Men had often chained him hand and foot but he was so
strong he tore the chains apart.
The evil spirits in the man were afraid of the Lord Jesus. He said to them, "Come out of this man you evil spirits!"
There was a large herd of pigs feeding on a hillside nearby. The demons begged Jesus, "Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them." He gave them permission and the spirits came out of the man and went into the pigs!
There
were about two thousand pigs and they all rushed down the steep
bank into the lake and were drowned.
The men who were
minding the pigs ran off to tell the people and soon a large
crowd had gathered. When they came to Jesus they saw the man who'd
had the spirits, sitting peacefully and wearing proper clothes.
They were afraid and asked Jesus to leave their shores.
How sad it was that these people did not want the Lord Jesus to stay with them!
The Lord Jesus had done an amazing MIRACLE in driving away evil spirits. He had given the poor man a NEW life. But still the people did not want Him there. But children, WE WANT THE LORD JESUS, DON'T WE? Of course we do!
Well,
as Jesus and His disciples were getting into the boat, the man
who had been possessed by the demons
begged to go
with them. But Jesus did not let him. Instead Jesus gave him a
job to do. Jesus said, "Go home to your family and tell them
how much the Lord has done for you." So the man went away
and began to tell people everywhere, how much Jesus had done for
him. And all the people were amazed.
What a powerful God Jesus is!
PRAYER
"Dear Lord Jesus, You are such a powerful God. Even evil spirits are afraid of You. Thank You that I can TRUST in You and not be afraid of anything. Be my God. Be my Saviour. Be my King. Amen."
