KING GIVES NAME!
Joseph
told king Pharaoh that he should choose a wise man and put him in
charge of the land of Egypt. This man was to organise the people
to store up grain during the good, bumper years and keep it in
store houses in the cities. Then sacks of grain could be sold to
the people during the bad years of famine.
Joseph's
plan seemed good to Pharaoh and all his men. Pharaoh asked them, "Can
we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God?"
Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Since God has made this known
to you, there is no-one as wise as you."
So Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of the whole land of Egypt. He gave Joseph a ring for his finger, fine robes to wear and a gold chain for around his neck. The King also gave him a chariot and horses to ride in, many servants and also a beautiful wife. Isn't God really wonderful?
Pharaoh also gave Joseph a very special new name, Zaphenath-Paneah, which means, "The Saviour of the world."

This new name was because people all over the world would be saved from starving to death, through Joseph. How wonderful!
Well
children, this name reminds us of someone else who is the real
SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD. Do you know who He is? Yes, of course, He
is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus died for our sins that
very first Easter, to SAVE us from DEATH and HELL!
Just as Joseph suffered many things in Egypt before he became a saviour of the people, so the Lord Jesus suffered the beatings, the crown of thorns, the nails in His hands and feet to become our SAVIOUR. Let us be truly grateful and thank Him now!

PRAYER
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank You that You suffered the beatings, the crown of thorns, the nails in your hands and feet, the punishment for my sins. You are my Saviour. I love You. Amen."
What a wonderful God Jesus is!
