PRAY WITHOUT HATE!
You'll remember from the previous lesson, that Daniel's jealous enemies got the King to pass a new law, so they could get Daniel into trouble. Do you remember what the new law was? Yes, it was, "If anyone PRAYS to any other God or man during the next thirty days, except to the King, he shall be thrown into the lions den."
Of
course you'll remember that Daniel went right on PRAYING to the
LORD and asking Him for help. He wasn't going to stop PRAYING for
anyone. Well, Daniel's enemies sneaked into his house and heard
him PRAYING to the LORD. They were so pleased with themselves,
when they went to the King and told on Daniel. Now he was in real
trouble!
They said to the King, "Did you make a law that anyone who prays to any god or man except to you, O King, would be thrown into the lions den?"
"Yes," answered the King.
"Daniel ,the Jew, is not paying any attention to you, O King, he still prays three times a day." they replied.
When
the King heard this he was very upset, as he was very fond of
Daniel. He tried everything he could to SAVE him. But because he
had made the new law, which could not be changed, there was
nothing he could do.
The King gave the order, to have Daniel arrested. Even though Daniel's enemies were so mean, he did not HATE them. He just TRUSTED the LORD and kept on PRAYING. Whenever someone is mean and cruel to you,do not HATE them. TRUST the LORD JESUS and keep on PRAYING.
Daniel was put into the lions' den and a huge stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den. This reminds us of another huge stone, that was rolled to close the tomb of the Lord Jesus, after He had been crucified. The Lord Jesus came out of that place alive. Do you think Daniel will come out alive?
The
King said to Daniel, "May your God, whom you serve
continually, rescue you."
You see children, the King loved Daniel and wanted to SAVE him. You and I have a King who loves us. His name is King Jesus. He is our God too. He can SAVE us, unlike Daniel's King who couldn't save him. Jesus can SAVE us when we get into trouble, but more important He can SAVE us from our SINS.
GIVE KING JESUS A CHEER! "HIP, HIP, HORRAY!"
PRAYER
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank You that You are a great King and yet You love me. Thank You that You can SAVE me when I am in trouble. Thank You that You can SAVE me from SIN. Amen."
What a
wonderful God Jesus is!
