MOSES RUNS AWAY!
Moses was brought up in the King's palace, as the son of the Princess. He had the best food, drink and clothes and he went to the best schools. He had everything a young man could want. But still, he was not happy! Why? Because he saw his people, the Hebrews, working so very hard as the King's slaves and he felt sorry for them. His real Mum, Dad, sister and brother were still slaves too!
One day, Moses saw an
Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. He was so angry
that he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. The King
heard about this and tried to kill Moses, but he ran away from
Egypt and went to live in the land of Midian. He lived there with
a man named Jethro, who had seven daughters.
Moses worked for Jethro, as a shepherd, looking after the sheep. He married one of Jethro's daughters and they had a baby boy. Moses stayed there for many long years. During that time the King of Egypt died and the Hebrews cried out to the LORD to help them in their suffering.
One day, when Moses was
out with the sheep, he saw a strange thing. There was a bush on
fire, but when he looked closely he saw that though it was on
fire it did not burn up! Suddenly, the LORD spoke to Moses from
the bush!
"Moses! Moses!" the LORD said, "I have seen the
misery of my people in Egypt. I have come down to rescue them. Go,
I am sending you to the King, to bring my people out of Egypt."
Well, Moses was shocked. He didn't want to go. He was scared! But isn't it GREAT that GOD was going to SAVE and RESCUE His people from Egypt? Isn't it GREAT, too, that GOD wants to SAVE YOU from SIN and from HELL? That is why He sent, not Moses but His own Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who DIED for your SIN on the CROSS and ROSE again from the dead. JESUS now LIVES for ever and He is able to SAVE everyone who comes to Him.
Jesus said, "Whoever comes to me, I will never drive away." JOHN 6:37
PRAYER
"Dear Father God, thank You for sending Your own Son, Jesus, to DIE for my SIN on the CROSS, so I can be SAVED. I am SORRY for my SINS. Please FORGIVE me. Thank you that I can come to You and that You will never drive me away. Amen."
