Do you know how many people there are in your family? Some of you have a big family. Some of you have a smaller family. This story is about a boy who had a very large family. He had eleven brothers. Can you imagine that? He also had his Mum and Dad. His name was Joseph.

Joseph's father, Jacob loved him very much. When he was seventeen, his father gave him a very special present. Do you know what it was? Yes, it was a beautiful coat.

Whenever Joseph's brothers saw that Joseph was the favourite, they hated him. Joseph had a dream and he told it to his brothers.

"Listen to this dream I had. We were tying up sheaves of corn in the field, when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered round mine and bowed down to it."

His brothers were mad at him.

"Do you think you are going to rule over us? No way!" they replied. And they hated him all the more.

Well children, there are many wrong things here in this family. Jacob was very wrong to have a favourite! The brothers were very wrong to be jealous of and to hate Joseph. Joseph was very wrong to show off, in front of his brothers.

These wrong things are called sins. Sin causes a lot of trouble in families, even today. But the Lord Jesus died on the cross to take away our sins and to put His Spirit inside us so we can live properly in our family.

"...Christ died for our sins" 1st CORINTHIANS 15 verse 3

PRAYER

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for my family. Forgive all my sins and put Your Spirit in me, so I can live in my family as I ought. Amen."

What a wonderful God Jesus is!
