NEED MORE WATER!
The
people were still travelling in the desert and it was hot! They
camped at a place called Rephidim but there was 
no water for the people to drink. So they
quarrelled with Moses and said, "Give us water to drink."
Moses said to them, "Why are you angry, you should TRUST the LORD?" But the people stayed angry. "It's your fault, Moses," they cried, "you brought us and our children and our animals out of Egypt to make us die of thirst!"
Moses was really worried because it looked like they were going to pick up rocks and stone him to death. But he did what he always did when he had a problem. Do you know what that was? Yes, he PRAYED to the LORD, and the LORD answered him.
"Walk on ahead of the people," the LORD said, "and take some of the leaders of the people with you. Take your stick in your hand and HIT the big rock I will show you and water will come flowing out of it for the people to drink."
So
Moses did what the LORD told him to do. He went with the leaders
to the big rock and HIT it with his stick and water came gushing
out. So all the people came and
filled their
water jars with lovely cool, clear water and they all drank as
much as they wanted.
How sad it was that they had not TRUSTED the LORD to look after them. You know children, Moses hitting the rock reminds us that the LORD JESUS CHRIST was HIT and killed on the CROSS for our sins. Do you know that JESUS is called the "ROCK," in the Bible? It's true!
"that
rock was Christ." 1 COR.10:4
PRAYER
"Dear Lord Jesus, YOU are the ROCK and YOU were HIT for me when YOU died on the CROSS. Thank YOU for dying for me. I love YOU. Amen."
