FOOD SENT DOWN!

THE PEOPLE ARE HUNGRY! THE LORD SENDS MEAT AND BREAD FOR THEM!

We hope you haven't been moaning or complaining today children. Well, the people of Israel, in this story were GRUMBLING against Moses, because their FOOD was running out. "Hey Moses," they cried, "have you brought us into the desert to starve to death?"

Well, of course children, we know that FOOD is a very important thing that we all need, to live. But GOD knows that and we need to learn to TRUST Him to give us all that we need. The people of Israel had FORGOTTEN to TRUST in the LORD and were getting all worked up, for nothing. Poor Moses got the blame but he PRAYED to the LORD. Then the LORD said to Moses, "I have heard the people grumbling. Tell them, 'Tonight you will eat meat and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.'"

That same evening hundreds of birds called QUAILS flew down into the camp and the people caught them and roasted them. Lovely meat, tasting a bit like chicken. The people really enjoyed their dinner that the LORD had sent them, there in the desert!

Then the next morning the people found white flakes, like snow, on the ground. They wondered what it was but Moses said, "This is the bread the LORD has given you to eat." So the people went out with their baskets to gather it up. The ate some and found that it was very good to eat. It tasted like a sweet biscuit! The LORD had sent them their breakfast, there in the desert sands. How marvellous!

Moses wanted the people to learn to TRUST in the LORD instead of grumbling and complaining. God really loved the Hebrew people and do you know kids, that the LORD sent them this bread, called "MANNA," every day for FORTY years, out there in the hot desert. Yes, it's true... it's a wonderful miracle indeed!

You know children, when the Lord Jesus was here on Earth he taught the people that He was like the 'Manna' only far better. He taught the people that He was the TRUE BREAD from Heaven that they could TAKE Him into their lives and LIVE FOREVER! The Lord Jesus DIED on a wooden CROSS to take away our sins. Because JESUS died for our sins, we can live for ever in Heaven, if we take Him as our Saviour and Lord!

"I am the bread of life." JOHN 6:35

PRAYER
